Custom Software Development
Transform your ideas into market-ready products with our end-to-end engineering solutions.
The short answer.
Lumorise builds custom software around how a business actually works, for the point where off-the-shelf tools stop fitting. We build web applications, internal tools, customer portals and MVPs. Most custom application work runs 6 to 12 weeks depending on integrations, and once the engagement is paid in full, you own the code.
What we deliver.
A working dossier of the practice, every line is a thing we ship, not a thing we slide-deck.
We start with the workflow the software has to support: who uses it, what they need to get done and which systems it must talk to. That becomes a one-page brief with a fixed scope and delivery window, agreed before any code is written.
We build the smallest version that does the core job well, so you can put it in front of real users and learn from them early. Features that can wait go on a list for later instead of stretching the first release.
We build the interface, the back end and the data layer together, in whatever stack the project calls for, from a custom web application to plugins inside an existing CMS. One team owns the whole path, so a change to how data is stored reaches the screen that displays it without a handoff between vendors, and the parts that carry money or customer records are built to the same standard as everything else.
We plan where the application runs, how its data is stored and how it copes as usage grows. Hosting, domain and third-party accounts stay in your name, so the software is never locked to Lumorise.
Changes move through an automated build and deploy pipeline instead of manual uploads, so every release is repeatable. New features ship behind a feature flag, which lets us deploy code early and switch it on only when it is ready.
Code is typed and observable in production, so problems surface quickly instead of hiding. We test the paths where mistakes hurt most, such as checkout, booking, sign-in and data syncs, and validate input so incomplete or junk submissions never reach your team.
How we work.
- Step 01.
Discovery workshop
A working session with the people who will use the software, mapping the current workflow step by step and marking where time is lost. We leave with the requirements, the user roles and the integrations the build depends on.
- Step 02.
Architecture and prototype
We design the data model and choose the stack, then build a clickable prototype of the key screens. You try the flow before development starts, while changes are still quick to make.
- Step 03.
Sprint builds with demos
Development runs in short sprints, each ending with a demo of working software rather than a status report. You see real progress every cycle and can reorder priorities before the next sprint begins.
- Step 04.
Staged launch
New features go live behind a feature flag, switched on for a small group first and then for everyone. Existing data is moved and checked before the switch, so day one runs on real records.
- Step 05.
Support and iteration
After launch the software stays on a maintenance plan with 24/7 monitoring and weekly security updates. Every two weeks we ship improvements based on how people actually use it.
Questions, answered.
When does a business need custom software instead of off-the-shelf tools?
When the tools you pay for no longer match how you work. Common signs are staff copying data between systems by hand, a booking or checkout flow that cannot ask the questions you need, and screens that look nothing like your brand. Custom becomes worth it once that friction costs more than the build.
How long does it take to build an MVP?
An MVP is custom application work, which usually runs 6 to 12 weeks. The biggest variable is integrations: payments, calendars and data feeds from other systems each add work. We fix the scope and delivery window in a one-page brief before the build starts, so the timeline stays predictable.
Who owns the code when the project is finished?
You do. Once the engagement is paid in full, you own the source code, the design files and all content produced for the project. We do not lock the software behind a proprietary platform, and the domain and third-party accounts stay in your name.
What affects the cost of custom software?
Cost follows scope. The main drivers are how many screens and workflows the software needs, how many outside systems it connects to, how many user roles need different permissions, and how much existing data has to be moved or cleaned. A scoping call is the fastest way to an accurate estimate for your project.
Can custom software connect to the tools we already use?
Yes, and that is often the reason to build custom. Inventory systems, payment processors, calendars and CRMs can all be connected so data moves without anyone retyping it. Our Integrations & Automation page covers booking, payment, CRM and inventory connections in more detail.
What happens after the software launches?
Every Lumorise client stays on a maintenance plan after launch. That means 24/7 monitoring, weekly security updates, improvements every two weeks and a same-day response for critical issues. Launch is the start of the product, not the end, and we keep shipping based on how real users work with it.
