Help ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews find, understand and cite your business, on top of solid SEO.
The short answer.
AEO and GEO are the work that helps AI tools find, understand and cite a business. It sits on top of solid SEO rather than replacing it: clean structured data, answer-first copy and consistent business details across the web. Nobody controls what these tools recommend, so we make no guarantees.
What we deliver.
A working dossier of the practice, every line is a thing we ship, not a thing we slide-deck.
AEO is the work of shaping a page so it answers a real question outright, in the first sentence, before any build-up. Headings are phrased the way people actually ask, and each answer is written to stand on its own if a tool lifts it out of the page.
GEO aims at the tools that write an answer instead of listing links, such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. The goal is for a generative answer about your kind of work to name your business, with the facts it needs to do that sitting somewhere it can read.
Schema tells a machine what a page is, not just what it says. The right types change with the business: LocalBusiness and AutoDealer where vehicles are sold, Restaurant and Menu JSON-LD where food is, ProfessionalService and Service where the work is sold as a service, with FAQ markup wherever a page answers the questions people actually ask.
AI tools quote passages, not whole pages, so each section is written to stand on its own. A heading states the question, the first sentence answers it, and the supporting detail follows, so a passage lifted out of context still carries the business name and the fact that made it worth quoting.
An llms.txt file is a plain text map of a site written for language models, pointing them at the pages worth reading. Lumorise publishes one for its own site, and alongside it we check that AI crawlers are actually allowed to reach the pages you want them reading.
AI tools cross-check a business against what they find elsewhere, so a name, address, phone number or set of hours that disagrees between your site and your listings gives them a reason to skip you. Getting those details to match is unglamorous work that makes everything else more believable.
How we work.
- Step 01.
AI search check with real buyer prompts
We start by asking ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI the questions your buyers actually type, then read what comes back: who gets named, what those answers say about you, and where the tools get your details wrong. That first read is the evidence the rest of the work argues from.
- Step 02.
Entity and schema fixes
A model has to be sure which business you are before it will name you. We settle that: one consistent set of business details everywhere you appear, and schema that states plainly what you do and who you serve, so the same facts line up wherever a tool looks for them.
- Step 03.
Answer-first content
Then the pages get rewritten to lead with the answer. A question a customer asks becomes a heading, the reply sits directly under it in a couple of sentences, and the detail follows for anyone still reading. Sections are built to survive being lifted out of the page on their own.
- Step 04.
Crawler access and llms.txt
AI crawlers are separate from Googlebot and often get blocked by accident. We check which ones your site allows and confirm the pages that matter are readable without JavaScript standing in the way. Lumorise also publishes an llms.txt of its own, a plain text map pointing language models at the pages worth reading.
- Step 05.
Re-check prompts and adjust
Later we put those same buyer prompts back through the tools and compare what comes out against the first read. Where you are still skipped, we look at what got cited instead and close that gap, usually a missing answer or a fact the tool could not confirm. This runs as the work lands, not on a calendar.
Questions, answered.
What is AI search optimization?
It is the work of making a business easy for AI tools to find, understand and cite when someone asks them a question instead of searching. In practice that means structured data a machine can read, copy that answers questions directly, and business details that agree wherever they appear.
What is the difference between AEO, GEO and SEO?
SEO earns rankings in search results, so a person clicks through to your page. AEO shapes content into direct answers to the questions people ask. GEO helps generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and Perplexity cite the business inside an answer they write themselves. The three overlap and build on each other.
Can you guarantee ChatGPT will recommend my business?
No. Nobody controls what an AI tool says, and no honest agency claims otherwise. These systems change their models and their sources without notice, and two people asking the same question can get different answers. What we control is the work: readable pages, correct structured data and answers worth citing.
Do I still need SEO if I focus on AI search?
Yes. AI tools lean on the same crawlable, well-structured pages that search engines do, and several of them read live search results before writing an answer. A site that cannot be crawled or understood will not be cited either, so this work sits on top of SEO rather than replacing it.
What is llms.txt?
It is a plain text file at the root of a site that points language models at the pages worth reading, in the way robots.txt speaks to search crawlers. Lumorise publishes one for its own site. Support for it varies between tools, so we treat it as a sensible addition rather than a fix.
How long until AI tools mention my business?
There is no fixed timeline. It depends on how contested your field is and how much citable content already exists about you, and these tools refresh what they know on their own terms. A business with clear, well-marked answers on its site gives them something to pick up sooner.
What affects the cost of AI search optimization?
It depends on where you are starting from: the state of your current SEO foundation, how much existing content has to be restructured into answers, how many locations or services need their own coverage, and how contested your field is. A call about your site is the fastest way to an estimate.
